Hip-Hop V Fashion

What’s the difference between hip-hop and fashion?

…Well, there isn’t one now.

Over the years, we have been introduced to many hip-hop artists with different styles, trends and flavours. They are the ones who have successfully merged fashion and hip-hop together. But will it still be the same over the next few years?

I asked a few people at my university what they thought about this.

How do you think hip-hop has changed fashion?

“Celebrities treat fashion like it’s a conspiracy. So if you’re not wearing what they’re wearing, you don’t fit into their society.”

How do you think hip-hop has changed fashion?

“I think that hip-hop now compared to back in the day has changed the whole fashion scene in a big way as opposed to wearing baggy clothes, and now we have skinny jeans and leather looks with long t-shirts. You can relate this back to the first black rapper ever to appear on the cover of Vogue.”

*For those who don’t know, the first rapper was A$AP Rocky.

Why do you think hip-hop fashion has become increasingly popular?

“I would say it’s down to the popularity of the public, for example, Kanye West and A$AP Rocky have an influence on certain social groups who tend to follow their style and trends.”

Do you think urban fashion will stay popular in the next 10 years and why?

“It probably won’t last the whole duration of the 10 years because fashion trends always change, however, it will come back in many years to come as a society that recycles old trends.”

What are your thoughts on this? Feel free to hit me up with a comment 🙂

Get The Look…Ciara

This style is one for the ladies. Ciara has to be one of my favorite R&B singers on the planet, and I love how she manages to stay on top of every trend, adding a bit of her own spice to the style.

The ‘Gimme That’ singer is soon to be Mrs Cash, as she’s currently engaged to hip-hop artist Future (formally known as Nayvadius Cash). Aww how cute!

I wonder which designer she’ll be wearing down the aisle?

Must have Ciara item….

Now, these pair of Mickey Mouse sneakers are soo cute and they look so good on Ciara.

Unfortunately, they don’t seem to have them around anymore #notcool

Whose style is fly?

So guys, there are so many celebrity couples around, but there are 3 that have caught my eye. Pick the best one with the best style…

Get the look!….A$AP Rocky

It’s the guy with the dollar sign in his name. It’s A$AP Rockaaaaaaaay, or shall I say Rakim Mayers as the rapper is formally known as.

He’s so fashionable and stylish to the max, but of course that’s what you’ll get from an ex DKNY model. I was lucky enough to watch A$AP Rocky live at the Wireless Festival 2013, where he wore a simple white tee and jean shorts.

From monochromatic geometric shapes to shiny shorts, A$AP Rocky has got it all.

Video of the Week!

This week we’re taking it back. Waaaay back. Back to the 80s!

It’s Run DMC!

Run D.M.C are one of the most influential men in hip-hop. The one thing I like about them apart from their music, is their style. Who knew the gold chains, the trilby hats and Adidas shoes would make an impact on fashion.

So here it is, It’s Tricky
